Detox for Weight Loss?

Whenever I’m doing a juice cleanse or a 2-3 week clean eating cleanse, people always ask me “What’s the point?  I mean, it’s not like I’m going to continue to eat like that all the time, so why bother?”  But probably the most common question… Will I lose weight on a detox? Yes, of course you will lose weight!  But doesn’t mean you should do a detox or cleanse to lose weight.  If that’s you’re only reason you’re doing it, and you go back to your regular diet after you’re finished, you’re just going to put the weight right back on.

Better Than Coffee, Mocha Dandy Latte

What could be better than coffee you ask?  It’s my new coffee replacement and it’s made from dandelion root.  Yes, that’s right, the roasted roots of dandelion, along with roasted chicory and beet roots! Actually it’s Dandy Blend, an instant herbal beverage that’s 100% caffeine free, has no acid and is gluten free with no GMOs.  Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?  I thought so too until I tried it.  It’s good all on it’s own mixed with hot water, but for a special treat, I love it with almond milk, raw cacao, maca and cinnamon. But before we get to

Miracles on Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Night

Hardest and craziest thing I’ve ever done… Warning! This post is more gritty than my Kili Part 1 Mountain Climbers Breakfast post (check it out here if you missed it) but worth the read, I assure you. It was written right after my summit climb when I got back to base camp. I didn’t want to forget any of the details of how it felt at the time. Hope you enjoy it! Woke up at 10:45pm after getting only about an hour of sleep.  I had thrown out my old contacts and had a new pair ready to go.  Really

Ever wonder what kind of breakfast is eaten every morning on a trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro?  Ok, you’ve probably never given it much thought, but now you’re wondering, aren’t you?  I had the pleasure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2014 so I can tell you firsthand. Well, as you’d expect you need a hearty breakfast for the energy required for long days of trekking up hill at increasing altitude.  So eggs, toast and banana fritters were on the menu every morning. But chocolate? Yes, chocolate breakfast cereal was a staple on the slopes of Kilimanjaro!  My version of Mountain Climbers Chocolate
