It takes a lot of courage to take charge of your health and change your eating habits. I know that I personally have deluded myself into eating crappy, processed low-calorie or low-fat foods just because they were marketed as “healthy”. End result? My lack of nutrition left me feeling tired and stressed. On top of that, I was left with bad skin, a worn out immune system and a body far more susceptible to illness. Sound familiar?

I’ve always tried to be “healthy”, but it’s taken me a long time to figure out what that actually means. There’s so much confusing information and misinformation out there – Low fat, good fat, bad fat, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, low carb, whole grains, gluten free, organic, non-GMO… ugh, EXHAUSTING!

Choosing the diet that’s right for you can be overwhelming.

With a background as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) and Certified Project Manager (PMP) my logical, scientific brain wanted to discover the “perfect” way to eat for optimal health. After all my efforts, what I’ve come to discover is that there no exact formula works perfectly for everyone. As nice as it would be, there’s just no “one size fits all” approach to nutrition.

While there’s no perfect diet for everyone, there are plenty of WRONG ways to eat for optimal health, with lots of myths and misconceptions to sift through.

Here’s where I can help.

My passion for nutrition and healthy living led me to Toronto’s Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where I graduated with First Class Honours, and am now a practicing Certified Holistic Practitioner (CNP).  So I know how to separate fact from fiction.  You can think of me as your holistic nutrition myth buster!

My whole food philosophy

My philosophy on food is a take on Michael Pollen’s ‘eat food, not too much, mostly plants’. The key here is that “food”  means REAL FOOD – fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and even good quality organic meat and fish if that’s what’s right for your body. I like to say that I subscribe to a whole foods, veggie centric, ‘don’t take your healthy eating regime so seriously that it stresses you out’ food philosophy.

In order to live up to your most awesome radiant health potential, you need to know how it FEELS to eat clean, whole, real foods.  Let me show you how!

Green smoothies & gratitude

about02My own radiant health discovery kicked into high gear in 2012. What started as a couple subtle changes quickly turned into a radical shift in my lifestyle. It all began with green smoothies and gratitude.

My green smoothie addiction started when I bought a Vitamix (which I can’t live without now!) and started making healthy, kick-ass, delicious, superfood-filled, energy packed, breakfast of champions green smoothies every single day. As I ventured further down the holistic health path, I learned more about the mind, body, and emotional connection. That’s when the shift really kicked into high gear.

In an effort to connect my emotions to my physical well-being, I started keeping a simple daily gratitude journal. No matter how rough or emotional my day, there was ALWAYS so much to be grateful for.  Whether it’s the taste of a fresh, crisp organic apple, appreciating a beautiful sunset overlooking the lake, or kisses from my dog Bailey – I always found that being grateful for the little things made all the difference in the world.

Green smoothies and gratitude totally rocked my world! I lost 15 pounds effortlessly, without changing anything else about my routine or eating habits. But more importantly I started to FEEL better than I ever have in my entire life, and at the end of the day – that’s all that really matters.
